Storyboard Project Presentations

Throughout the process of creating my storyboard, I changed my ideas multiple times.  I kept the same general idea of a man coming home from work and searching for his wife, who he soon finds was kidnapped.  While drawing my shots for the scene, however, I kept coming up with different ways to draw them.  For example, I would begin drawing a character point of view and then think, "Oh an over the shoulder shot would be perfect here", then I would begin drawing that and realize, "If I draw this as bird's eye view, it would kind of give the feeling that someone is watching him, and create an eerie effect".  I went through this with a few of my shots.  Although it got a bit annoying, I knew that I was being creative!  Besides for creating my own storyboard, I really enjoyed the presentations of everyone's storyboards.  It was interesting to see how people would imagine a specific scene and how they would set it up.  Some people even had the same ideas of how to create their scene, for instance, the Western scenes had similar angles and order of shots.  This project really helps you to realize how important the angle and order of shots in a scene is to the creation of mood of a scene.

  1. It certainly shows you why they want to shoot a lot of film from all different angles when doing a real movie shoot, doesn't it? It's much easier to edit after the fact if you have film AND a lot of different options. Still, it would save film if the director storyboarded the scene and knew exactly which angles and camera positions you would need.
