Scary Movies

Ever since I was a little girl I've loved the month of October. I love the fall festivities and Halloween, but especially the old scary movies played over and over all month long. Classic horror movies like Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose are so much more creative than the "horror" movies produced today. Modern scary movies are centered around sex and gore. There is nothing scary about seeing people get mutilated when they are half naked. Movies such as "Saw" and "Hostel" make me wonder how producers even think of such disgusting ways for people to die. Classic horror movies were actually scary; modern horror movies get more disgusting with each passing year.

  1. Also, you have to ask yourself...what in this historical moment has made movies like Saw and Hostel possible. Why do audiences today want to see what critics have dubbed "torture porn" horror films? Has something changed in young audiences?
